A lady and I stood after her Mother's service and talked about flowers.
Sometimes loved ones do not want to take the flowers with them after a funeral, and in Chester, a local hospice has a volunteer group of ladies who collect them when they can and make arrangements to share around the hospice.
Some loved ones take them to the gathering afterwards, and then home to make arrangements to appreciate later.
Others are placed on the graves of loved ones or in the remembrance garden.
There is no right or wrong way for anyone, it is whatever feels balanced and loving to them.
Loving funeral directors always place a flower with the coffin after we have all left the chapel.
I occasionally find a flower or sprig that has come loose and is lying on the chapel floor or the ground outside. I pick them up, hold them through the service and put them in an egg cup on our kitchen windowsill when I return home. The tiny sprig above was a collection of white buds and one has bloomed.
The lady had chosen beautiful peach and pink roses for her Mum, and the thoughtful florist had misted them, and they were bound together with raffia, surrounded by stocks, lisianthus, alstroemeria and gerbera daisies (her Mum's favourite), and they were heading back to arrange them in her Mum's home.
I look at the flowers on our kitchen windowsill and send loving thoughts and energy as I look out into the garden.
My belief is loving energy flows to where it is needed. 🌹
Very beautiful, Jane. Nice to see your postings.
Many Blessings

I believe so too 💖
Some lovely ideas Jane and I pressed some of the pink roses from my mother's arrangement and they are kept in an album I put together for her 90th birthday... ending on a fragrant note five years later. ♥
Flowers convey so many things that help those who see them honor a person's life and death. The perfection of each flower (like each individual), their unique beauty and a reminder of the brief time all things exist upon the earth. It's so beautiful and touching to me that you bring any loose flowers or sprigs home to keep the person's memory alive and send out love. You always touch my heart with your words and actions Jane. I only wish you were closer and could be the one there for my sister on Tuesday. But I am cheered by the fact our celebrant has purple hair. Your beautiful post on flowers touched my heart and as always was perfect timing with love penn
